Itinerary
1ST DAY: SCOPELLO
Your tour begins in Scopello, fisherman village on the sea with an ancient Baglio rich of history where inside you can find coffee shops and small shops with local ceramics.
2ST DAY: ZINGARO NATURAL RESERVE (6 HOURS WALKING +500M -500M )
Your excursion will begin from the south income of the Zingaro Natural Reserve where a beautiful and suggestive walk will take us along the paths, with Mediterranean spot and charming groves. After many coves and wonderful panoramas, you will have the chance to have a bath. Your walk will go on admiring the colors of the sea and discovering charming panoramas the Gulf of Castellammare offers to you.
3ST DAY: SCOPELLO – SEGESTA - MARETTIMO
(2 HOURS WALKING +290M -430M )
This day is dedicated to archaeology, you will visit the Archaeological area of Segesta, where the magnificent Theatre on the north slopes of Monte Barbaro and the Temple, whose majestic appearance bestow great nobility on the landscape. Then transfer to Trapani for the hydrofoil to the island of Marettimo. Excursion to Punta Troia and its castle, amazing the views of the other islands.
4ST DAY: MARETTIMO - LEVANZO
(4,30 HOURS WALKING + 450M -450 M )
Free day on the beautiful beach of Marettimo. Optional excursion to the island of Levanzo.It’s a short crossing to Levanzo where a coastal path bright with lilac scabious leads past deserted stone farm houses and olive trees to the Grotta del Genovese. Time to admire the marvellously well preserved cave paintings and engravings dating from 11 C BC lining the cavern walls.
5ST DAY:MARETTIMO
(6 HOURS WALKING +689M -689M )
Today you can make an excursion passing through a fortress of Roman Age and a little church of the Byzantine period reaching then a very panoramic point. The ones who want to go on discovering the island, can do a minitour by boat with a local fisherman around the island to see the unapproachable coasts.
6ST DAY: MARETTIMO – OPTIONAL ERICE – TRAPANI
In morning, departure for Trapani where you will continue our discovery of the unusual Sicily. Optional excursion to the medieval town of Erice where you will admire the Church and will walk into the narrow streets rich of pastries selling the unforgettable almond cakes. Accommodation in Trapani area.
7ST DAY: MONTE COFANO RISERVE
(4 HOURS WALKING +350 M -350 M )
Today excursion to the “Cofano Natural Reserve”. Mount Cofano, high 659 m, is one cape that separate two gulfs, that one of Cofano and that one of Bonagia. One of the characteristics of this excursion is the different kind of path, the coastal path which goes up to summit to admire the breathtaking view from above.
8ST DAY: DEPARTURE
Breakfast and end of our services.
You’ll start your holiday in the Moorish village of Scopello, on Sicily’s north coastline, that lies adjacent to one of Italy’s most pristine coastal nature reserves, the Zingaro Natural Reserve. Marettimo, the most mountainous of the three so-called Egadi Islands just off the western coast and a walker’s paradise: cliff paths wind through Spanish broom and purple cistus to Saracen fortresses, Roman villas and coral lined sea grottoes. Then Archaeology with Segesta. To end with the town of Trapani rich of history and culture. Optional visit to the Medieval Erice and walking to the enchanting Reserve of Monte Cofano.
