Sicily coastal cycling

FROM SAN VITO TO SCIACCA                                                                                     Cycling Tour: 8 days/7 nights

You’ll start your holiday in the beautiful village on Sicily’s north coastline, San Vito Lo Capo, that lies adjacent to one of Italy’s most pristine coastal nature reserves, the Zingaro Natural Reserve. Then you will began your cycling tour towards the Salt Pans and Wind mills of Nubia then again cycling on thyhe coast towards Marsala passing through Mozia and to Mazara del Vallo with its famous Dancing Satyr. To end with the archaeological site of Selinunte, a wonderful site on the sea and the enchanting village of Sciacca, on the seaside.

 

1st day: San Vito Lo Capo

Arrival in San Vito, fishermen village on the sea worldwide known for its superb white sand long beach, the Cous Cous Festival and the Zingaro Natural Reserve. Accommodation in HB (2 nights).

2nd day: Walking in Zingaro Natural Reserve (6 hours walking +500m -500m )

Your excursion will begin from the north income of the Zingaro Natural Reserve where a beautiful and suggestive walk will take us along the paths, with Mediterranean spot and charming groves. After many coves and wonderful panoramas, you will have the chance to have a bath. Your walk will go on admiring the colors of the sea and discovering charming panoramas the Gulf offers to you.

3rd day: San Vito Lo Capo – Nubia (45 km)

Mazara del Vallo

Today is a very panoramic ride because you will have the chance to see the western coastal of Sicily where Tuna Fish, Saracen Towers and turquoise sea will enchanting you. Difficulty: medium

4th day: Nubia– Mozia – Marsala (48 km)

Today you will pedal in total relax! The panoramic road coasts the sea where the sight of the flow mills on the salinas is amazing. You will then have the chance to visit the little island of Mozia, little uncontaminated punic island, where you will find and archaeological site and a private museum. Just a little bit of kilometries to reach Marsala, beautiful town on the sea where a special liqueur, the “Marsala” is producted. Difficulty: easy

5th day: Marsala – Mazara del Vallo (22 km)

Today you will have the chance to visit the town, do some wine tasting in one of the many local wineries or just relax. Otherwise you can cross the sea and visit one of the beautiful Egadi Islands, explore the islands, enjoIMG_0793 (Small)y the seaside or walk. .Then you will reach the town of Mazara del Vallo very nice town with a “Kasbah” and worldwide know for the bronze statue called the “Dancing Satyr”. Difficulty: easy

6th day: Mazara Del Vallo – Selinunte (40 km)

This stage is really great. You will cycle along the coast admiring the amazing views of the Aegadi Islands and you will cycle inland among vineyards and olive trees. After cycling you will relax admiring the archaeology in the most wide open park all over Europe. The archaeological park surrounding Selinunte and its monuments extends about 1.300 meters east to west. Difficulty easy

7th day: Selinunte –biciiii2 Sciacca (45 km)

Today you will cycle to reach the enchanting town of Sciacca, a town on the sea again. It is famous for its ceramics, its thermal baths and its religious festivals, as well as for its large fishing fleet. Difficulty: easy

8th day: Departure: Breakfast and end of our services.

 

Cous-cous

Couscous with vegetables is a dish of Mediterranean and North African origin, which is prepared with durum wheat semolina reduced fine grains combined with stewed vegetables; often used to accompany the couscous with a red sauce and spicy called Harissa, based chili that is native of Tunisia. In Italy the couscous is prepared in Trapani. is steamed in a special clay pot glazed, but the dressing, unlike that magrebino, is a broth of fish soup. The name in the local dialect is cuscusu.

Every year, on last week of September, it celebrates most important meeting about Sicilian meal: THE COUSCOUS FEST at San Vito lo Capo.
