Secrets of Sicily – Walking Tour

Walking Tour: 8 days/ 7 nights

You’ll start your holiday in the town of Trapani, rich of history and culture. Walking inside the wonderful Natural Reserve of Zingaro. Then the island of Marettimo, the most mountainous of the three so-called Egadi Islands just off the western coast and a walker’s paradise: cliff paths wind through Spanish broom and purple cistus to Saracen fortresses, Roman villas and coral lined sea grottoes. Then Archaeology with Mozia to end with the enchanting village of Scopello stretched on Sicily’s north coastline.

1st day: Palermo airport / Trapani airport – Trapani

Our tour begins in Trapani, very nice town in front of the Egadi Islands, town rich of history and culture. Briefing about the tour and about the road book and all the informative papers. Accommodation and overnight stay.

2nd day: Monte Cofano Reserve (4 hours walking +350 m -350 m)

Today excursion to the “Cofano Natural Reserve”. Mount Cofano, high 659 m, is one cape that separate two gulfs, that one of Cofano and that one of Bonagia. One of the characteristics of this excursion is the different kind of path, the coastal path which goes up to summit to admire the breathtaking view from above.

3rd day: Marettimo (2 hours walking +290m -430m)

In the morning take the hydrofoil to the island of Marettimo. Time at disposal to do the first walking excursion or exploP1120920 (Large)ring the surroundings of this charming little island. The ones who want to go on discovering the island, can do a minitour by boat with a local fisherman around the island to see the unapproachable coasts. Overnight stay (2 nights)

4th day: Marettimo – Levanzo (4,30 hours walking + 450m -450 m)

Free day on the beautiful beach of Marettimo or time at disposal for another walk on the island. Optional excursion to the island of Levanzo, a short crossing from Marettimo island. You will walk along a coastal path to reach the marvelously well preserved 11BC cave painting and engravings lining the cavern walls.

5th day: Marettimo – Mozia – Scopello

Today you will take the hydrofoil that from Marettimo will take you to Trapani port where you will be picked up for the excursion to Mozia. You can then visit the island of Mozia, ancient Punic fortress, today the archaeological site and the site of a private museum of great value Accommodation in Scopello, little village of fishermen on the sea with an ancient hamlet.P1130010 (Large) (Medium)

6th day: Zingaro Natural Reserve (6 hours walking +500m -500m)

Your excursion will begin from the south income of the Zingaro Natural Reserve, soon after the Moorish village of Scopello, where a beautiful and suggestive walk will take us along the paths, with Mediterranean spot and charming groves. After many coves and wonderful panoramas, you will have the chance to have a bath. Your walk will go on admiring the colors of the sea and discovering charming panoramas the Gulf of Castellammare offers to you.

7th day: Balata di Baida (4 hours walking + 375m – 375m)

Today relaxing stroll through the backyards of Scopello. Fields full of olive trees and vines, but also rugged limestone massifs. Wonderful landscapes that will always remain in your memories.

8th day: Departure

Free time to visit the enchanting village of Scopello and to taste the famous “Pane Cunzato” bread with olive oil, anchove, spicy cheese and end of our services.
